Some people are confused by the title of Technology Education and assume it is about computers. This is a common assumption and is not completely incorrect, but computers are just one of the areas included in the subject of Technology Education.

Technology Education is a planned program for students that focuses on the application of knowledge, creativity, and other resources to solve practical problems and thereby extend human potential.

Technology Education has been formed from the tradition of Industrial Arts. Tech Ed focuses less on tool skills and more on problems solving and design thinking process. Students are still exposed to a variety of tools and materials, but are asked to develop and test solutions to problems rather than follow a set of plans to build a project.
