Good Afternoon Morrisville M/S High School Community,

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Morrisville Moms!  I hope that our entire Morrisville School community is happy, healthy, and safe!  I also would like to once again express my gratitude to all of our essential workers and emergency personnel, please continue to stay safe and know that you are appreciated!  As we enter a new phase of our Continuity of Education plan, requiring participation and attendance beginning Monday May 11, 2020, I want to provide a few updates in order to support a successful transition.

    Updates

    Attendance

Student participation in planned instruction remains asynchronous, and parent(s)/student(s) should record their attendance daily (Monday – Thursday) at any time between 12:00am and 11:59pm using the Morrisville Middle/Senior HS Attendance Form link located on our district website under the Spotlight section.  Students will need to log into their Morrisville Google Account to access the form, once in the form you will be required to enter your Student ID number which can be located in Genesis.  This link will be active beginning Monday May 11, 2020.

Open Chrome browser > log into Google using MV credentials > navigate to www.mv.org > click the link shown below > review, complete, and submit the attendance form each day.

    M/S HS Attendance Form

    Grading

Marking Period 3 and Marking Period 4 are now merged into one marking period (MP3/MP4), and grading is open for all M/S HS students.

    Chromebook Distribution

The distribution of a limited number of Chromebooks to those families that have requested a device is underway.  If you need a Chromebook, please email me at shaines@mv.org.

If you know of someone who would like to contribute to the fundraising efforts for Chromebooks, please share the link to MOEF Donation Page.

    Google Classroom

Our faculty and staff have put forth a great deal of care and effort into building, adjusting, and updating their Google Classrooms in order to provide a meaningful learning experience for our students.  Please take time this week to sit down with your child(ren) and ask that they give you a tour of their Google Classrooms.  Explore each classroom, the resources provided, the user interface, as well as the assignments and get to know your child’s daily experience.  If you have any questions please reach out to our teachers, they will be more than happy to answer questions and we welcome your valued feedback.

    Bulldog Friday Activities

While our Continuity of Education does not provide formal instruction on Fridays, as we build time for professional development, collaborative planning meetings, and student support opportunities, we also are using this time to support our students with social-emotional learning opportunities and school spirit related activities.  These activities and resources can be found in the Middle School and High School Counselor’s Google Classrooms, created by Mrs. Sherlock and Mrs. Culnan.

    Teacher Appreciation Week

This past week we celebrated National Teacher Appreciation Week, and I would like to express my gratitude once again to our faculty for all of their effort in transforming their classrooms from 550 West Palmer Street to Google in support of our students.  They, like many of you, are faced with working and educating our future leaders from home, and I thank all of you for your efforts as home educators as well!

Good Evening Morrisville M/S High School Community,

I hope that this update finds you and your families healthy, safe, and well!  What we are experiencing together is certainly exceptional, and unforgettable.  Before I provide updated educational information, I would like to thank all of our community member heroes that work as emergency responders, are in the healthcare industry, or are out in front providing the services that our community relies upon to care for our families each day.  Thank you to all of you, and please continue to be safe!

Over the past few weeks, our Technology team, Faculty, and Administration have been working together to build a Google Classroom experience for our students and community.  These efforts have been made in order to improve our ability to provide a continuity of education in support of our students.  Thank you to Mr. Myat, Mr. Yuen, and our faculty for creating this experience.  As we open our Google Classrooms on Monday April 6th, 2020, we understand that this is a learning experience for all!  We will learn, adjust, and grow together.  Please review the key information located below, related to our At Home Learning Experiences moving forward.

Good Afternoon Morrisville M/S High School Community,

I hope that everyone is doing well and feeling healthy this Sunday afternoon!  I wanted to share a couple of ideas on electronically obtaining, completing, and submitting any of your Online Home Learning Experiences without using a printer.  If you have access to our district website via cell phone, tablet, or computer you may be able to do one of the following:

    • Create a blank electronic document (Google Sheets, Microsoft Word, Notes, etc..) that corresponds with the assignment and submit directly to your teacher via email.
    • Complete the assignment by writing on a corresponding blank sheet of paper, take a picture, include all identifying information, and submit directly to your teacher via email.

Additionally, if you request and complete physical copies of assignments, you can also utilize a cell phone to take pictures of your completed work and submit directly to your teacher via email.  Lastly, yes you can certainly return the physical copies to school in the same way that you picked up the materials.  As always, if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance, please contact me at shaines@mv.org.

Home Learning Experiences - 3rd Marking Period (MP3)

Good Morning Morrisville M/S High School Community,

I hope that this update finds you and your families healthy, safe, and well.  As Mr. Harris shared with our school community on Wednesday evening, our faculty, staff, and administration have been working diligently to build a thoughtful plan to provide equitable, flexible, and meaningful educational opportunities for our students across the district.  Our approach at the Middle/Senior High School is to provide opportunities for our students to positively impact their academic standing to end our 3rd Marking Period (MP3), while simultaneously planning a strategic approach to provide a continuity of education for our students in the event our closure extends into the 4th Marking Period (MP4).  To this light, our families and students can go to the Classroom Webpages section of our website to access the directory for all of our Grade Level Team and Individual Teacher pages, or click on the link provided above "Home Learning Experiences - 3rd Marking Period (MP3)".  Once you have selected your Grade Level Team or your Individual Teacher page, look for information titled "Home Learning Experience" and click that link or menu item.

    • Middle School students will search by Grade Level Teams for Core Content: 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
    • Middle School students will find Elective Area information on Individual Teacher pages.
    • High School students will search by Individual Teacher pages.

Students are able to complete any/all of the optional Home Learning Experiences provided in order to enhance their MP3 academic standing, these opportunities are designed for a positive experience and outcome.  Students are encouraged to complete and submit these assignments electronically, if possible, considering our social distancing safety practices. Students, please take advantage of your immense creativity and talent using electronic devices in order to submit completed assignments directly to your teachers email address.  Our teachers have provided submission ideas related to their individual assignments on their pages, however taking pictures, videos, or scanning documents using a cell phone, tablet, or computer and submitting are all options at this time. There are features built into smartphones such as the “Notes App” on an iPhone or iPad, as well as a variety of free apps that can be downloaded across platforms, such as Adobe Scan, Microsoft Office Lens, and Genius Scan just to name a few.

In the event that a physical hard copy of an assignment is needed, please see the options below:

    • Please send an email to msdpacket@mv.org that provides your student's name and grade level.
    • Or, if you prefer, you can submit the following FORM.
    • Our staff will gather the assignments and make them available for pickup at the M/S HS side entrance between 11am-1pm.  Please allow one day to process this request.
    • Completed assignments can be returned to the same location during the same hours if you are unable to submit directly to teachers electronically (cell phone/tablet/computer).

All faculty and staff email addresses can be found in the Staff Directory found on our district website.

In order to comply with the Governor’s Stay at Home Order, we will NOT be providing student access to the buildings to retrieve belongings or school materials at this time.  If you have a student that has medicine in possession of the School Nurse, please contact Michelle Argenti at margenti@mv.org.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside and lead our dedicated faculty and staff in developing and implementing a plan to support our students, in a variety of ways, during this time.  To highlight one of the many valuable messages that Mr. Harris shared last night, this is certainly a time for our community to hold true to our core mission of educating our students by rallying together in true Bulldog fashion.  I appreciate your patience and support as we continue to adapt and adjust to each new piece of guidance from our local, state, and federal officials. As always, if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance, please contact me at shaines@mv.org.

    Stay Safe and Be Well!

Good Afternoon Morrisville M/S High School Community,

    At Home Educational Resources

Good Evening Morrisville M/S High School Community,

Though our Middle/Senior High School is presently closed, our students are able to visit the link above for a variety of educational resources organized to support the maintenance and enrichment of their learning during this time.  These resources are meant to provide students with opportunities to engage in activities, practice skills, and access information during the closure.  We certainly encourage continued practice by our students, however these resources are not mandatory nor are they meant to replace invaluable instruction from our faculty and staff.  If you have any questions or if I can be of assistance, please contact me at shaines@mv.org.

    Be well,
